Randall J. Krause, Esq.

Randall J. Krause, Esq.


Randall Krause is President, CEO and Co-Founder of ePlace Solutions, Inc. Prior to co-founding ePlace in 1999, Randy engaged in a national law practice and is an active member of the bar in both California and Michigan.

Additionally, Randy is the co-founder and current partner of the Privacy Law Group, a boutique law firm that provides advice to clients throughout the United States on data privacy and security matters.

Randy’s experience in both data privacy and employment law matters includes leading teams of consultants to provide risk management services to thousands of organizations, both large and small, in connection with HIPAA, privacy, data breach prevention, risk assessments, incident response planning, data breach tabletop simulations, harassment/discrimination issues, wage and hour issues, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and more.

A frequent speaker on data privacy and employment topics, he regularly conducts data breach workshops for large entities across the nation. Randy is active in many industry associations, including the Professional Liability Underwriters Society, Risk & Insurance Management Society, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of California, among others.

Elise Krause is a co-founder of ePlace Solutions and an attorney licensed in California. Elise has engaged in a national law practice in Michigan and California with an emphasis on health care, privacy and employment-related matters.

In her work as general (outside) counsel to one of California’s largest mental health care providers and long-term nursing home facilities, she regularly navigated complex areas of privacy and HIPAA compliance including representing her clients in HIPAA compliance audits. She litigated one of the first CAN-SPAM Act cases and has also counseled and litigated on behalf of large financial institutions, internet service providers and ATM/credit card processors.

In the employment law area, Elise has litigated well over 50 harassment cases, some through trial. Elise’s practice included both compliance and litigation in all aspects of federal and state employment laws, including harassment/discrimination issues, California wage and hour issues, Title VII issues, Family Medical Leave Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act, among other things. Elise drafted workers compensation laws in connection with her representation of California tribal casinos.

Elise graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1987. She is an active member of the California State Bar. Additionally, Elise holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Lara Forde, Esq., CIPP/US

Legal Counsel/Cyber Risk Practice Manager

Lara Forde is a licensed attorney and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US). During her legal practice, Lara has handled high-stakes bad faith insurance litigation and managed a high profile, multimillion dollar litigation for a full-service international law firm.

Prior to joining ePlace Solutions, Lara managed a data breach response team and helped Fortune 500 organizations, governmental entities, healthcare providers and educational institutions successfully respond to high profile data breaches including many of the largest data breaches publicized to date. Lara worked closely with the affected organizations, counsel and carriers to develop and implement response plans designed to lessen the damaging effects from a data breach. After seeing the challenges that organizations face during a data breach, Lara joined ePlace Solutions to help organizations proactively prepare prior to an incident.

As the Cyber Risk Practice Manager, Lara is responsible for overall operations and works closely with insurance carriers to develop solutions designed to reduce policyholders’ privacy and data security risks. Lara also prepares customized incident response plans and facilitates cyber “war games” to test organizations’ response readiness posture and ensure they are prepared to respond efficiently and effectively when confronted with a data breach.

Lara is a frequent speaker on data breach preparedness and response at industry events and is an author of “21st Century Crisis: Preparing for and Responding to the Inevitable Data Breach” marketed by Advisen, Ltd.

Lara received her Bachelor of Business Administration and Juris Doctor from Baylor University and her Masters in Law from the University of Houston Law Center.

Laurian C. Rutterbush, Esq.

Laurian Rutterbush is a licensed attorney in California. Throughout her legal career, Laurian has practiced almost exclusively in labor and employment law. During her career, she has represented private employers in numerous state and federal civil court matters. She has assisted in the successful defense of multiple employee-related lawsuits, including sexual harassment claims, discrimination claims, retaliation claims, wage and hour disputes, and wrongful termination claims.

Laurian is experienced in counseling and representing public and private sector employers in all aspects of labor and employment law including employee terminations and discipline, grievances, workplace privacy, discrimination/harassment claims, leaves of absence issues, wage and hour requirements, workplace investigations, and the development of employment policies.

As the EPL Practice Manager at ePlace Solutions, Laurian is responsible for the overall operation and accuracy of the EPL risk management services provided by ePlace Solutions. She helps organizations mitigate employment-related risks by developing state-specific employment materials that are designed to guide organizations through the maze of employment laws. Laurian is also a frequent speaker on a variety of employment law topics.

Laurian is an active member of the California bar. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia, School of Law in 2005.

D&O Practice Manager

James is a licensed attorney in the state of California, and a certified information privacy and compliance and ethics professional. His diverse legal experience includes criminal, immigration/human rights, and business and employment law matters. In addition to his law degree, he holds an advanced degree in conflict resolution.

As an attorney, James has represented clients in cases ranging from complex immigration applications and petitions to business and employment matters including unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, retaliation and discrimination under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, and other employment matters on both the employer and employee-side.

As D&O Practice Manager and in-house attorney at ePlace Solutions, James assists corporations in assessing and mitigating their legal and compliance risk and that of their directors and officers. He provides advice and guidance in areas of legal risk including employment-related matters, cybersecurity and privacy, mergers and acquisitions, complex claims brought by competitors, regulatory investigations, and risks specific to healthcare entities.

James is an active member of the California bar. He received his Juris Doctor from San Joaquin College of Law and his Masters of Peacemaking and Conflict from Fresno Pacific University.

Violet Silko, Esq. CIPP/US

Cyber Security Consulting Practice Manager

Violet Silko is a licensed attorney in Texas and Pennsylvania and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), with a JD/MBA from Baylor University. Her diverse practice experience at both the individual and policy levels has prepared her for developing new tools and approaches to solving what is fast-becoming a pervasive and costly challenge in modern industry: how to respond to a data breach.

Prior to joining ePlace Solutions, Violet worked on the customer responses for some of the largest data breaches to date, including: Home Depot, Sony, and Anthem. Her experience in managing many large scale breach responses led to her expertise and proficiency in proactively preparing organizations for data security and privacy incidents. In 2015 alone, she facilitated over 20 tabletop simulations for Fortune 100 companies.

At ePlace Solutions, Violet continues her consulting work from a risk management perspective. She reviews and develops customized incident response plans to ensure organizations are prepared to respond efficiently and effectively to a data breach. Violet also provides consulting services to these organizations to improve internal coordination, and prepares, facilitates and leads customized table top simulations focused on "pressure-testing" an organization’s incident response procedures and protocols.

In addition to consulting services, Violet also manages relationships with partners and develops unique services designed to suit an organization’s cyber risk management needs. She provides practical guidance to help organizations navigate and mitigate their privacy and cyber security risks.

Manya Mohoff

Office Manager

Manya has worked in the risk-management industry with ePlace Solutions since 2001. In her current role, she supervises ePlace’s administrative team and is responsible for the organization and coordination of office operations, procedures and resources. Manya uses her knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and Bootsrap, along with a customized CMS to design and implement custom branded websites for our clients. Additionally, she is skilled in complex customer relationship management programs (CRM) which allow her team to provide individual attention to over 10,000 clients including the monthly distribution of over 120,000 emails. Her administrative team is well versed in programs like Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional resulting in the best custom designed risk-management materials available.
